Streets of Chania

You have to understand that Chania is a very small place. You can walk through Old Chania in 30 minutes or less. But it seems to change as the day changes, so if you walk down an alleyway in the morning and then walk down there again in the afternoon, you will wonder if you have been here before. The same place at night will be filled with lights and shoppers, with music and the smell of barbeque.
Cafes and alleys highlight this beautiful place. Shops and food just naturally seem to go together.
The narrow alleys begin to seem normal rather quickly, perhaps they were designed by the Venitians to remind them of their own home. They wind and twist from side to side and rise and fall so your viewpoint is constantly changing..
There is time to linger at the doorways to view the wares for sale or to read the menues or perhaps just to savor the smells and listen to the music.
You have to understand that Chania can get in your blood and once that happens, there may be no cure. Just be aware of that!
